Red House in Bexleyheath, Kent was designed and built in 1860 by the architect Philip Webb for his friend William Morris who lived there for only five years until 1865.  Red House has become known world-wide as the home of William Morris and as an iconic piece in the history of domestic architecture.  Much has been written about Morris and his time in the house but little about the people who lived there after him.

The book tells the story of the owners and occupiers who followed Morris. Research into their histories has brought to light some fascinating facts about a very interesting and varied group of men and women.
